This is a really dull run down of my life. I plan to make it more interesting in the future, if I can figure out the right approach. But for now, I hope it beats out what I had here before, which was nothing.
I was born in Lebanon, OR and lived there for most of my life. My first time away from home was when I left to attend Cottey College in Nevada, MO. Despite terrible homesickness (and that horrible heat and humidity!), I stuck it out for two years.
Returning to Lebanon, I then left home to work for a summer in Yellowstone Park at the Old Faithful Inn. Though I hated my job in the kitchen, it was incredible to spend that much time in the historic Inn and to take day trips down to the Tetons. I did get tired of seeing buffalo, elk, and geysers though, even Old Faithful.
Returning back to Lebanon yet once again, I began attending Oregon State University in Corvallis to finish up my degree in music. In 1992, I married my wonderful and intelligent husband, Doug, (a much more active reviewer on this site. If you'd like to read his reviews, he's fdknight) and left Lebanon for good.
We continued to live in Corvallis until summer 1998 when we moved to beautiful Astoria, OR.
Astoria is a wonderful place in many ways. It is both historically important (end of the Lewis and Clark trail and the oldest U.S. city west of the Rockies) and picturesque. With the mighty Columbia River dominating the scene (at least from our windows), when the sun shines, it's spectacular, and I have a hard time believing that I get to live in such a beautiful place.
