How I Rate
HR
Excellent review that provides the wealth of information required to allow me, as a consumer, to make an informed decision. It is also outstanding on one or more levels--ie. writing style, organization of information, a touch of humor, etc.
R
A satisfactory review that provides information on the product. Not as elaborate as an HR, and lacks the 'above the norm' qualities. However, very respectable.
SR
I will give an SR if the review does not provide enough information about the product. I will always try to leave a comment as to why I rated this way, and I always invite the member to contact me if they edit the review, etc.
NR
I do not rate anything NR, unless I've stumbled upon something that is blatantly offensive.
Other Little Quirks
I personally despise anonymous ratings, and will not hide behind an anonymous SR or NR. I feel that if you have put forth the effort to write a piece, and I'm going to bother to rate it, I should respect both of us enough to at least let you know who rated you that way and why.
My WOT is very dear to me. It's not big, but I've tried to make it meaningful. I put the most effort into those with whom I share trust--I read and rate and leave comments when I can. I try to make an effort to gradually read as many of your older reviews as time allows. I will always make the effort to give you my three cents!
I always read who has rated my reviews. If I see you have read and rated number of mine, I make the effort to do the same for you, and begin to consider you for my WOT.
What really gets my attention is comments on my reviews, and adding me to your e-mail alerts.
I always try to welcome new folks to Epinions. If I see by your profile that you are new, I will try and leave a cooment and direct you to some very helpful areas within Epinions. I know I wish someone had helped me when I first came here.
