I was raised in Connecticut, but went to college in the south. I graduated with degrees in English and Spanish. I have traveled a great deal (Australia, Spain, England, Italy and Peru, to name a few of the more exotic locations), and love visiting museums and historic sites, particularly the homes of great writers.
I currently work as an Editor in New York, where I am quite happy (imagine, a job that lets you do what you love!) When not reading (I'm always reading, either for work or fun), I'm usually writing or singing (much to the delight of my neighbors, I'm sure).
As you can probably tell from my opinions, I'm a Broadway fanatic. I just collect obscure musicals, particularly the more recent shows. I don't usually have favorite anythings, but if I did, I'd pick Stephen Sondheim as my favorite musician (though he's really a composer) and William Shakespeare as my favorite author (you have to be pretty amazing to still be popular 500 years after your death).
My other hobbies include gardening (particularly bulbs, I know entirely too much about the different species of tulips), needlework (cross-stitch and needlepoint, though I prefer the latter), art (I love the Pre-Raphaelites), studying historical period costume (thank goodness the Met Museum is close by) and computer strategy games (entirely too addictive!) Hmm, that last one doesn't seem to follow the 19th-century woman theme I had going... ah well.
Oh, and my most recent hobbies: painting (always wanted to be able to do that, I'm hoping practice improves skill...), studying historical social customs and writing Epinions. I think perhaps I should also add reducing parentheses in my writing (don't you think?)
