About jennierabbit

Hi! My name is Jennifer. I have one child, who, as you can tell by the number of toy reviews I do, is incredibly spoiled by the family.
I hold a PhD in speech-language pathology and am currently certified and licensed in two states. I also hold teaching certificates in two states. I enjoy working with children and use "directed play" as my primary means of getting results. For this reason I am continuously looking for children's products that are durable, inexpensive, and can be used for a variety of educational purposes.
By working with education specialists, physical therapists, occupational therapists, and other speech pathologists I am continually learning. I have the advantage (?) of seeing child development from two sides, that of a professional and of a parent. My own daughter exhibits some developmental delays due to being born early and having surgery at two weeks of age. Thus I evaluate products from the perspective of the professional, as well as asking the question "how will this help my child?"
I sincerely hope that my ratings will benefit other parents. I try my best to be candid in my experiences as well as to look at items objectively.
Note: I should also add that I am a person with many physical problems. I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia when I was 20, had surgery for bursitis on both hips when I was 22 and 24, and diagnosed with multpile sclerosis (MS)when I was 24. These conditions are just that, conditions. They don't define my life, although they occasionally limit my activities. What I truly believe I wrote in the dedication of my dissertation. I said "Attitude is everything. It's not what others think you can or can't do, it's what you believe that truly matters."
