About masterbuilder
I live in Salt Lake City and have three daughters and am married. I am an architect specializing in custom residential projects, construction management, and construction consultation. I earned my Bachelor of Architecture degree from the University of Arizona, and the Master of Science in Architecture Studies degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) where I also spent a year on a PhD in History, Theory, and Criticism of Art and Architecture before returning to construction full time. I have a total of 10 years of formal architecture education and about that many years of construction experience, focused primarily on carpentry, timber framing, finish carpentry and cabinet and furniture making. I currently work for an architecture firm in Salt Lake and spend evenings and weekends remodeling my 100 year old house. I love to walk the canyons and mountains of Utah and Idaho, especially with my two brothers. We have a big vegetable garden and the beginnings of a perennial garden, where I love to relax and study horticulture and grow ingredients for our big dinners with friends. I read whenever I can, mostly poetry and serious literature and children's books at bedtime. I believe I am a good source for opinions and advice on construction and woodworking tools, poetry and literature, and backpacking gear and destinations. I may occasionally dabble in other areas, but I'll focus on what I know best. I'm new to Epinions spring 2001, so I look forward to your feedback.
