About MerlinSteele
I guess I may have a different idea of what is considered 'Helpful' from the way most people here on epinions seem to have. I'll admit that I'll usually rate a review pretty good if the person did a fairly good job and put some writing into it, even though I may not really plan on buying, watching, or reading that item. But the point is, "Is the way you wrote about that item able to help anyone?" The main reason I'm writing this is that I've gotten a few remarks from the 'highly enlightened' on what I should do to 'tweak' (so to speak) my reviews. I'll admit that I'm thankful for any advice anyone would like to give me, but don't expect me to write something in exactly the way that you want it. I'm writing about something from my own standpoint, and if my perspective seems too light or frivolous for you, then just rate it however you want! Don't bother me with your snootiness about how I should have done it this way or that way. One of the main reasons that I come to epinions so much is to read reviews from other people based on their experiences, their perspectives. I don't have to agree with them. I don't expect them to watch a movie over again just to be able to give me a refreshing view of it. If it makes an impression on them enough to remember it and write about it, more power to them! If I enjoy reading about it, I'll rate it well. And if I don't rate it well or not at all, then it's nothing personal. And I'd like to be treated the same way in return. Don't get me wrong. There are a lot of cool people here at epinions. I've just run into a couple of characters that have given me some flack, then I've read from others who have been here a long time and consider themselves 'writers', and as one guy said, "All the new stuff coming in that I've read is pure trash!" This kind of attitude not only puts off newcomers to epinions, but to others such as myself, as well. So please tone down your criticism, don't take it all too seriously, just find whatever it is that interests you, and have fun!
