Who am I?
Naphtalia is my Hebrew name (my friends call me Talia.) My family calls me by my English name but as they're the only ones, it doesn't really matter.
I used to teach English, but was staying up until all hours grading papers. In an attempt to get a life, I've returned to office work. The work is not as satisfying, but at least when I leave work, I don't have to keep working late into the night.
I am a magician member of the Academy of Magical Arts. This is the organization that uses the Magic Castle in Hollywood as its clubhouse. For a time, I worked there as a manager, but now I've limited myself to being a member and playing there.

I also work part time and a store that specializes in magic, novelties, theatrical supplies and costumes. I have begun reviewing products we carry there that might be of interest to the general public.
I'm a vegetarian. I had an allergic reaction to beef and decided I wasn't going to do that again! I found that when I ate no flesh (nothing that had once had either parents or a face) I felt better. I don't really like eggs, but will have them if they're part of something (like chocolate cake, which is vegetarian, btw.) I do like milk products, though not plain milk. If I could find a way to be vegan and social, I would probably do that. My friends already find my being vegetarian difficult enough.

I'm Jewish. In Israel, I found a synnagogue that allows women to be counted as part of a minyan and lets me wear my talit and tefillin. Thus, I can be a practicing Jew and a feminist. I grew up in a synnagogue in Anaheim.

I'm a BBW: Big, Beautiful Woman (a.k.a.Large and Lucious) I have more curves than the Lombard Street in San Francisco (and most of them dangerous). I don't think about the tiny size four woman inside me trying to get out. I'm more worried about the size 40 woman outside who would like to get in. In truth, I would like to be a tiny little thing, but I am actually happy at the moment with who I am.

I suffer from depression. Lets stop making this a stigma. Everyone sometimes needs help. In my case, medication sometimes makes it better. Mental illnesses are illnesses. We need to stop seeing them as something shameful and start treating them like other illnesses.
