About paisleyplace
|
Samantha Thomas lives in a small, quiet rural town where she writes freelance while raising two children. In 1995, blindness came into her life leaving her unable to work in a regular full-time job. Not a quitter, she returns to school in a different field from accounting and business to rejoin the working world as a medical transcriptionist, a job she can do without travel from the comfort of her own home. Again, health problems arise six years after beginning a new career. The discovery of joint disease from systemic lupus erythemosus causes the loss of yet another promising career. During treatments to regain a somewhat less painful existence, she begins writing. This time it is more than short stories or a column in a monthly newsletter. This time, she takes writing more seriously and begins her first novel, Greed, Murder, Lies.
Mid-2004, GML gains the interest of a publishing company and continues its way to print. By February 2005, Greed, Murder, Lies is available for preorder with a release date of April 8. Excellent preorder sales push the completion of a second, lengthier novel titled Dark Eyes, Blue Skies.
The success of her writing career leads the way to book signings and local notoriety. Though still a small, mostly unknown writer, she continues her quest to fulfill a lifelong dream of becoming a serious writer. Besides writing, she spends her time running two email support groups for the blind and chronically ill while keeping up with changing technology and raising her two wonderful daughters. Few people ever get the opportunity to enjoy their career choice. Samantha is one of those rare few. Writing has been a part of her life since birth and continues to this day on a much larger level.
