Let me take a stab at this self-presentation thing.
I'm an over-40, former Californian who has settled into the complexity and beauty of the Pacific Northwest. Some of my short, creative works have been published online, and in a few obscure print journals that no one will read. I have a dual degree in English Literature & Writing and Cultural & Historical Studies, and I've traveled widely through the US and Europe. I'm open-minded and enjoy new experiences.
But, I'm not stuffy or persnickity, I like innovations and new technology. I hang out with many people of diverse ages, types, ethnicities, gender-orientations, and cultural backgrounds. I believe that variety, tolerance and the pursuit of information are the foundations of living an enjoyable, engaged life.
I am passionate about music (from one end of the spectrum to the other), film, art, reading, the great outdoors, vibrant discussions, health and wellness, yoga, primping and fashion, animals, children, intelligent discussions, and exercising my consumer power. Like many of you I'm sure, I've watched the quality and delivery of products in this country change radically over the past 20 years--and largely in a negative way. After frustrating and expensive encounters with many major corporations and product lines, I believe our best avenue for change is to voice our opinions. When I read that the CEO of Best Buy classifies consumers as "devils" (if they complain or seek rebates), or "angels" (if they buy items at full price and without complaint), I realized that a fundamental tenet had been lost--that costumers deserve to get the best product at the best price they can find, and that this should be sold with appreciation for the sale.
I'm highly analytical and I try to conduct thorough research before I come to a conclusion. I hope you find you can trust my opinion. I am far more forgiving about the downfalls of a product than I am to the downfall of a company. No-one is perfect, and nothing works for everyone, but there is never a reason to be discourteous or dismissive of a consumer complaint.
On the lighter side, I'm married, and have two darling old dogs and a moody, gorgeous cat. I don't have children, but I really enjoy them. I like to spend money and try new things, so I hope to bring this community many insights.
