I'm a 32 year old mother of two children--a three year old daughter and a newborn son. My husband and I have been married 7 years, and we've moved back to my hometown, which has been wonderful. Before I had children I taught high school English, but "retired" to stay home with my kids. This past year I opened my own preschool--I teach 4 and 5 year olds three mornings a week, which is a great balance for me; I get to keep teaching but still be home with my children. My daughter attends my preschool.
My other big project this past year has been spearheading a committee to raise money and install a community playground in our town. To date we have raised over $60,000 and installed playground equipment for toddlers through teens. We are 90% finished with our project, but are still working to raise the last $6,000 to install a basketball court. It has been very rewarding to get involved in such a great community project--I've met so many young families and seen a lot of positive energy in many people.
I also dabble with writing--I am currently working on several projects with the hope of publishing them. I have had one tentative offer so far, so I am hopeful that with time I can break into the business!
