I teach tennis in Santa Clara, CA, specializing in doubles instruction. I've been playing tennis competitively for over 30 years, and I'm currently the captain of a men's 5.5 league team. I also play in tournaments. I play a combination of 5.5 and Open tournaments, as well as an occasional national 30s tournament.
I've been involved with tennis practically my whole live, so I have quite a bit of experience with the equipment, instruction, competition, and organization (USTA). Oh, I also volunteer on the Adult Tournaments Committee for the USTA/NorCal section. It's the committee that sanctions and schedules all adult tournaments for our section and does the rankings. I just got accepted this year (2005) as a member of the national USTA Adult Community Tennis committee.
Aside from tennis, I have interests in other sports, like skiing, golf, rollerblading, softball, and badminton. I also like photography and technology.
I got into photography when I wasn't satisfied with the pictures I was taking at the US Open each year. So I ended up getting a Canon EOS 7E with 28-70mm and 70-200mm f2.8 lenses. I'd like to go to a digital SLR, but I can't quite afford it yet. I'd like to get the Canon 1D (not even the MkII). For now, I get by with a Canon Powershot G3 with a 1.75x extender. It takes remarkably good shots at the US Open, and I don't get hassled as much as when I try to take my camera bag in with my big lenses.
My interests in technology stem from my technical background. I have an EECS degree, and I worked for Sun Microsystems for 13 years, before going to a startup, and finally, teaching tennis.
