About wcaswell
|
Caswell is a home networking pioneer with extensive IT experience in development, systems engineering, marketing, and strategy. His vision includes consumers with easy access to services and service providers with equal access to consumers all without worry about wiring or incumbent competitors that control infrastructure.
After retiring from IBM, Caswell founded an independent management-consulting firm to serve broadband, wireless, and home networking markets. Located in Austin, Texas, CAZITech Consulting helps companies discover, develop, and evangelize new opportunities and promote technology convergence. The firm's services include market and competitive analysis, strategic planning, business development, and related tasks; and its clients range from startups to multinational corporations and industry associations.
Significant CAZITech clients have included 3M, Parks Associates, Siemens ICM Cordless Products, and the IWPC (International Wireless Packaging Consortium). While on a two-year contract with Siemens, Caswell served as the Communications Chairman of the HomeRF Working Group and helped converge voice, data, and entertainment networks into a single wireless specification.
At IBM, Caswell helped pioneer the Residential Gateway (RG) concept and promoted many emerging RG standards, including OSGi, ISO/IEC JTC1 SC25/WG1, and TIA TR-41.5. He created multi-vendor home networking pavilions at both COMDEX and CES and continues to advance home networking through keynote presentations, published articles, participation in industry forums, and conference planning. He also writes a regular Wireless Mentor column for HomeToys.com.
