It is highly discouraged to use Amazon.com for ordering college textbooks. The books for class were ordered as soon as the list of classes was posted and it was assumed that a month would be plenty of time for their regular shipping since the books all showed "in-stock." WRONG! They were delivered after the first week of school.

Delivery speed is awesome. I never pay extra for speedy service yet it's always before the claimed 3-5 days(I live in Northeast).

After the order was placed, modification is even possible over the web. That's the best!!! The real cool thing is I don't have to get "HELP" from customer rep.

I had one bad experience with my email inquiry. I was having trouble with Velocity CD/DVD rebate and wondering if it was a rebate scam. They(I asked >1) were so hesistant to gimme their contact info but email. Hey! If I got their email response, I would not ask you for any other contact info, would I?

I have ordered CD's and books from Amazon. What struck me the most was the speed and accuracy of their standard delivery method. As a medical student, receiving reference materials in a timely manner was extremely helpful. They also have a wide selection of products; I once purchased a Djembe hand drum hand-made in Ghana, Africa through Amazon.com.

I purchased Perfume Legends: French Feminine Fragrances by Michael Edwards on Amazon, as well as the author's Fragrances of the World book. It was a special order and stated that it would take several weeks to arrive. However, it arrived in just a few days.

I ordered a cell phone with 1 year service agreement on Wednesday morning, the availability status for this phone is usually ships within 24 hours, and still is at the time of this writing. However, my phone didn’t get shipped out until Friday afternoon, and I won’t received until Monday evening even though I chose 2 day shipping. So if you are ordering a cell phone from them, expect “usually ships within 24 hours” to be “usually ships within 2-3 days”, and “Two Day Shipping” to be “At least four days shipping”. Adding insult to injury they activated my phone on Thursday, so I’ll paying for 5 days of wireless service without even having the phone. When emailing customer service regarding this issue, it took them more than 24hrs to give me a canned response of contacting the service provider and place the account temporarily on hold. Placing the account on hold will only prolong my contract time, not change the activation date. And if I’m unsatisfied with my service provider, I will only have less than 10 days to cancel it instead of the normal 15 days.

Amazon is the best online store out there. I almost always never want to go drive over to the store to get items that I want (especially when I find out that they're sold out). I ordered three books (Eragon, Eldest, and Quidditch Through the Ages). I was told at Chapters that Quidditch Through The Ages was sold out everywhere in the city as well as Eragon and that I should come back only to their store in 3 weeks to purchase them. Yeah, I like I was going to fall for that. I headed over to Amazon, purchased my 3 books, along with a Friends: The Complete Sixth Season, and used the free shipping. I ordered August 16th, was told it was shipped the 19th, and got everything (including Eldest, which had just been released that day), on August 23rd. The items were all in excellent condition, and I saved 10$, which is something that I'm really ecstatic about. Because of Amazon's wonderful service, I've pre-ordered Stewie Griffin: The Untold Story, and Desperate Housewives: Season One. I'm sure I'll be purchasing a lot of more things in the future! Excellent job, Amazon!

Amazon sucks. It is no longer a good e-commerce shop. stay away. Last three order form amazon - one is lost in mail, second - took 3 weeks to deliver, the third one - ordered a simple item, they changing delivery dates - initially it was 5 business days, now it is showing 2 months - TWO MONTHS!!! to deliver. The product was in stock.
I have a few gift certificates from amazon - earned them by using Amazon VISA - going to spend them out, close that VISA account and would never shop there again.

Amazon.com has an excellent customer service, on time delivery and overall very satisfied with their service. I've been a customer of Amazon.com back in 1998 and still their satisfied customer because of their excellent service.

Worst customer service and web site I have ever used and I order computer parts daily for an IT company. No customer service phone number. The info on the site is inadequately updated. Once you find a way to email customer service, which is nearly impossible, they don't get back to you. Shipping selections are ignored. Multiples shipped w/o warning. We are never ordering from them again.

I ordered a Konica Minolta Dimage A200, through Amazon.com on Tuesday at 1:00 am and it arrived via FedEx at 4:00pm on Thursday. I selected 1-3 day expedited shipping. Shipping cost a reasonable $14.45. It was shipped through J&R Music and Computer World. I was sent an email notice my purchase was confirmed. At 5:35 am I received an email notice that my camera had been shipped. I also ordered a 2gb compact flash card days earlier with the same quick and easy results. The prices were competitive compared to many online retailers as especially retail stores in my area (Best Buy). I found the camera cheaper at a couple shady online stores, with terrible reviews (BestPriceCameras.com). At least you know you won't get ripped off at Amazon or similar reputable internet retailers. Overall I am very satisfied with both transactions.

I've noticed that their prices aren't consistent. If you click through an affiliate's website, you don't get as good a deal as you would if you type in amazon.com yourself. If you return books they charge restocking fees, so I've heard, and I know someone who ordered a book and received it looking used with a few light stains on it. My experiences have been good, but I've only ordered from them about 5 times.

I must say, their website is the best to check out books. You can read real reviews from real people, you can even read a few pages of the book itself which really makes or breaks the sale for me.
