Terrible customer service!

Orbitz has the worst customer service!I was charged $1500 for an $875 vacation.Never confirmed anything,said my credit card was declined.Still have $400 of my money!Thieves!You cant even talk to anyone who speaks english.

Boo-Hiss!

First time I had used the website- I put in my destination: Flat Rock, NC, and their list of motels came up with Flat Rock-Mt. Airy. Not knowing where I was going, I booked 2 rooms there,for 2 nights, 2 months in advance! My traveling companion realized it was the wrong location and I immediately cancelled, and explained to Orbitz that it was not where we needed to be. However they refuse to reverse my charges for cancelling, $50 for both rooms. My credit card company tried to help, but Orbitz maintains that I knew what I was doing. Well, I did- but their map is wrong. My Flat Rock is down on the south end of the state, not the north where Flat Rock-Mt. Airy is! In addition the rate they guaranteed is the same rate the motel always charges. Fraud! As a senior citizen on fixed income I think this is an outrage. Shame on Orbitz! I won't use them again! Expedia.com is much better.

Orbitz lies about hotels - and don't care

I made a reservation for a hotel room in New York through Orbitz. According to Orbitz, the room had 2 queen size beds. I needed this since there were two couples travelling. When I got to the hotel, the room had two twin size beds. The hotel insisted that this was what Orbitz had reserved for me. After going through the BBB, Orbitz admitted that they reserved a standard room for me, which is supposedly a king size bed or two twin beds. Orbitz is still listing the hotel with two queen size beds, even though that is not what you get. They didn't apologize to me or offer me any consolation for my severe incovenience. And they're still selling that hotel room as two queen size beds when it's only two twins.
I don't trust Orbitz any more.

Attempted to purchase tickets. It looked like the transaction when through but I received a message stating that it didn't and to purchase my tickets from the airline instead. (which I subsequently did.)
Later that day I discovered that Orbitz charged my credit card anyway. Since it was a debit card, this caused my account to be overdrawn. I called Orbitz and was told (after being disconnected twice) that it would take 3-10 days to correct the error.

Don't book through Orbitz for anything, if you do your asking for it.

The hotel I booked through Orbitz was a very shady place. I tried to contact Orbitz to cancel the rest of my reservation (It was not a safe place to stay). There was no customer service number on any of my paperwork so I searched the internet and still could not find a number. After signing into the website and searching a rep asked if I would like to Instant message. She finally gave me a number. I called the number, where it took five minutes of voice recordings, followed by a twenty minutes of help from a poorly spoken man. There were no reviews on this hotel I choose which is why I didn't know how bad it was. They don't allow users to write reviews when they stay, only if they email you to write a review. They never emailed me. The hotel overcharged me and I'm dealing with my credit card to have it taken off. Thanks Orbitz for the horrible experience.

Horrible

Try to book tickets online. It did not show on My Account page for a week. Booked another set on US Airways.com. Found later that the orbitz booking went through. Talked to customer service. They fixed the problem putting my trip into My Account on their web site, but still held me responsible for their system failure!!

Deceptive and unfriendly

While attempting to book airline travel for a specific day, ORBITZ switched my booking to a flight five days later than the one that I was looking for. Apparently there system does not clearly let you know when they cannot find travel for you and brings up an alternate plan. I was able to cancel the booking, but ORBITZ still stuck me with a $6.99 booking fee. There customer service people (I spoke with three) were neither helpful, nor friendly. I tried Travelocity, and there system was more user friendly and with cheaper fares for identical flights. I did even better with aa.com and found a flight with a connection for the day I was looking for.

Poor accuracy and poor website

Inaccurate processing caused a major inconvenience.
The website timed out during the last step of confirming my ticket, then came back with the same "final step" page again.
I dubiously went through the final step again, but Orbitz somehow changed the dates of my flight to completely different dates. I called Orbitz but they said that their website works perfectly so they could not change my dates or even refund the ticket price. They even charged me a processing fee!

The Orbitz website is very easy to use. I was just disapointed in the quality of the motel that we stayed in, but the price was great (only $42)!

I made a mistake when booking a flight for my husband online and called to correct the mistake. I was given a person who barely spoke English and was rude. He would not work with me on correcting the mistake, just told me that I did it and he would have to charge me 130.00 to change it. Then ended the conversation with Happy New Years. I called the airlines and they took care of my mistake without extra charges. I will never use Orbitz again and think they outsource their jobs to other countries, thus the language problem.

Best price but safe?

This site gave me the best prices for tickets to India and with these prices, I could negotiate better with travel agents I spoke with. I gave them the fare available at Orbitz and they tried to beat the price but couldn't. The only hassle was that the fare seemed to be the same for me and my kids. The airlines told me they charge 80% of the adult fare so why didn't Orbitz show me this? Also, after reading another review here, I decided to check directly with the Airlines and seemed to get the best deal with them, even better than Orbitz's. If Orbitz had given me the 20% off for the kids fare, I'd have stuck with that. I don't know why Orbitz has this extra hidden fee called ticket protection which added on close to $200 to the already steep fare - made me think twice and also made me uncomfortable about shelling out my money here.

LOWEST price anywhere, easy to use, highly recommended

I have booked flights on Orbitz three times now, roundtrip first-class fares from my home in Honolulu, HI. They consistently offer the lowest price of any other website, especially if you are able to book a month or more in advance. However, I found a roundtrip first-class fare from Honolulu to Austin, TX in February for $511, and this was just five days before my preferred departure date!
I have never had a problem with customer service, and the site is very easily navigated. I will continue to use Orbitz for all my flying needs in the future!

I was overcharged by Orbitz

I was overcharged by Orbitz for a hotel room. When I checked out, I was handed a receipt for considerably less than what I paid. When I called Orbitz, the lady told me that "I could expect to pay a higher rate when I booked through Orbitz". After speaking to a supervisor, I was assurred that the rate I was charged was a discount from the hotel's regular rate and that the receipt I got showed what Orbitz paid. So I called the hotel and found that their regular rate was higher than the receipt, but still lower than what I paid.
I then emailed Orbitz customer service. The answer I got back still showed that they thought they were right and I had no recourse.
Moral of the story, I'll never use Orbitz again. I suggest that anyone who plans to use Orbitz double check with the hotel in question to see if they can get a better rate.

Worst customer service ever! They charged our bank account twice then refused to void the second transaction. We even got a bank representative on a 3-way call to convince them we weren't lying and they STILL wouldn't refund us! They insisted that we provide written proof, which can take weeks and we didn't have a few extra hundred dollars just lying around. We spent half of our Saturday on the phone jumping through their hoops and getting the run-around. To top it all off, they were only a few dollars cheaper than going directly through the airline. SO NOT WORTH IT! We will NEVER buy through Orbitz again!

I tried to use Orbitz to book a flight reservation. The system locked up when I got to the last step. When I called to inquire about system status, they told me that the system was down, but they offered to call me back when it was again operational.
I did get a call back. The caller offered to make the reservation for me. I did not realize until after the call that the service fee was higher than the fee for the online reservation. Essentially, they charged me extra for worse service.
When I tried to get them to refund the difference between the two rates, they refused. They treated me like an idiot. Especially condescending is their closing line to every email, "We value you as a customer and look forward to serving you again in the future." They did nothing to show me that they actually value me as a customer.
