The internet is full of travel- related websites, offering tour packages, discounted airfare, cut- rates on hotels, etc. One of these sites is Flycheap.com, a service that offers discounted airline tickets, both domestically and internationally, at very competitive prices.
Features of this Service:
To start using Flycheap.com, you must first establish a user account with the website. You have to create a user id and password, and enter some basic information about yourself in the profile section. They don't ask for a lot of personal information, just a few basics, like your preferred airlines and the corresponding frequent flyer numbers for each one.
Once your user account is set up, you can start searching for flights. You enter an airport code for your departure and arrival, along with the date you need to depart, and the date for the return flight. One thing I like is that when you enter the airport codes, Flycheap.com automatically enters the same airport codes for the return flight (in reverse order, of course). With most other flight search services, you have to enter the airport codes yourself. It's not a major advantage, but it does save a few keystrokes.
After you enter the dates and airport codes, you can then select the airlines to search on, or default it to "all" airlines, to find the best overall deal. One thing to note is that Southwest Airlines, a company that often has great deals on flights, is not included in this service. So, if you want to check out Southwest, you will have to go directly to the Southwest Airlines website to search for flights.
Once you have clicked the button to begin your search, Flycheap.com will then display the flights that match your search criteria, with the least expensive ones listed first and the most expensive listed last. It also displays the flight numbers, the time of arrival and departure, and the cities where you will change flights. If you don't like the prices, you can modify your search and enter a different date and/or a different airport code, then let Flycheap.com conduct another search.
If you want to purchase tickets, you simply click on the icon to purchase, and you are then taken to another screen to enter your credit card data. Your name, e-mail address, and frequent flyer numbers will already be filled in, pulled directly from your profile data. The tickets are then delivered to the address that you indicate within a few days.
What Could be Improved With This Service?:
Flycheap.com is a very basic service; very simple and easy to use. There's nothing wrong with that, but it could be improved if they would add a few more search options. For example, they could add an option that would automatically search for better deals one day before, or one day after your chosen date to fly. This would save the consumer the time of having to conduct another search, and it would quickly point out if there were better deals available by just changing the dates of flight.
Prices:
The prices that are quoted already include the basic airport taxes, but there is an additional $6.95 fee that Flycheap.com adds to the price, to cover the costs of its service and to pay for postage.
Final Thoughts:
This is a very good service to use to find great deals on flights. I have used it myself and it has never failed to find me a lower price. What I recommend doing is calling the airline directly at first, to get a quote on a flight, then go to Flycheap.com and see what it can find for you. More often than not, Flycheap.com will find you a better deal for the same flight.
Pack your bags and start your next vacation getaway with Flycheap.com. Low flight prices are just a few clicks away.
