Pros: curbside opening - either curb; light weight, secure, fast install and removal Cons: the prices have evolved to a "higher form," too
When one of my new neighbors at the giant (though somewhat paint-impaired) white house noticed a Yakima Space Cadet sitting in our garage, he was overjoyed to run into someone with "inside information" on rooftop cargo boxes. My neighbors wanted to buy a ...

Latches need work
by pnboothe ,Aug 26 '05
Pros: Good rooftop fastening system. Cons: Latch system
The latch design on this carrier is seriously flawed. I have to tie the box together with straps to keep the lid from popping open at speeds > 70 mph. I have it installed on a 2005 Subaru Outback.

Avoid at all costs. Could be dangerous at high speeds
by cpeters100550 ,Mar 06 '07
Pros: Lots of space. Cons: The latches fail and will send you stuff in space. And on the road.
I don't think I have this exact model. Mine is all black
brown type plastic.
The latch doesn't hook, it is a ball type.
It is a design flaw. I may have overstuffed it a little.
I'm doing 80 in Wyoming and the top pops off.
Luckily it was me and the tumbleweed out by devils tower.
Ended up tying it up the rest of the trip.
I paid over $400 for it because I purchased it at the last
minute.
The second time we were up in Canada. And I put bungie cords to hold it down. No enough. The latches failed and
a couple folding cars flew out on to a busy freeway.
There should be a lawsuit for this junk. I'm sure I'm not
the only one to have this happen.
